art_0808_choir.gifAugust and September is the time to register your child for the invaluable and multi-faceted experience of participating in a choir. The North State is fortunate to have a selection of quality choir experiences available.

Chico Christian Girls Choir

For girls ages 6-18 who love to sing and want to make a difference in the community. This choir is expressly a ministry to the elderly living in convalescent hospitals and retirement homes in Chico. Girls learn to sing in 2 to 4 part harmony. Practice begins 2nd week of September, meeting on Thursdays from 3:30-5:00pm. Cost is $3 per girl for music; Choir T-shirts are $10 each. Children's Choir of Chico

A multicultural choral music education org. dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children, youth & adults. Offers several levels of choral instruction & performance opportunities for grades K & up. Call for choirs' rehearsal dates. Modest tuition, with scholarships available. Director Susan Tevis.

Redding Children's Chorus

The choir uses music that is appealing to children while teaching them about different styles of music and various cultures. Music is not usually religious in content. XL Choirs of Northern CA

Study of some of the great classical choral works, church hymns & patriotic music. The choirs rehearse once a week and perform several times during the year. College of the Siskiyous Community Children's Choir

Children learn introductory musicianship skills through performing. Meets at the Mt. Shasta Elementary School on Tuesdays from 3-4:30 p.m., Sept 2 through mid-May. For boys and girls ages 8-12 years. $30 COS registration fee & $12 health fee. Scholarships available. Enroll now through September 2nd. Director Carol Taforo. Info: (530) 926-5720.
