Ever since I can remember, I have always loved art. Growing up in the forest by Castella, CA, living in the nature, I enjoyed going out to the creek and walking around in the woods inspecting things around me. I would draw pictures of some of the things I found, or places I enjoyed sitting at to think.

May 2009 was the submission month for the annual Upper California Teen Writing Contest for writers ages 12-18 years. This year's theme, Bringing the Heat, focused on stories based on the prompt “On Vacation.” Entries were judged by local author Charlie Price.

I suppose you could say I was born with it, destined to fall in love with the warm back and the soft muzzle. However it came to be, the fact remains: I love horses. They're my passion. From playing with plastic toy horses to my first riding lesson, I was born hooked.

I still remember the very moment I decided I wanted to make dance a huge part of my life. I was about five years old and was riding in the car with my parents on our way home from my dance recital. As we were pulling out of the parking lot I turned around in my seat and stared at the theater as we drove away. I remember thinking to myself, "I love this. I love to dance and I never want to stop."
